Adrian Baker RN NIP

STOP PRESS: Adrian recently won “Aesthetic Nurse of the Year 2014” awarded by the British Journal of Nursing.

Adrian originally joined us from the NHS where he worked for three years as a community staff nurse. Prior to nursing Adrian came from a performing arts background, and had various theatre roles, he even worked on a Caribbean liner!  He originally met MBNS specialist nurse Paula Shurrock when she was teaching on a course he attended. After his initial Aesthetic Nurse training, Adrian was inspired to follow in Paula’s footsteps and applied to work with us at MBNS. His long-term objective is to become a Qutis Franchisee (modelled on MBNS).

Nurse Prescribing for Botox

Adrian successfully completed his Nurse Independent Prescribing (NIP) qualification in May 2012 at De Montfort University. This means he joins Marea, in the 3% of nurses in the UK who are qualified to to prescribe medicines. BOTOX injection treatments® require a prescription before treatment can begin, this means that at Qutis we can often consult and treat on the same day.

Adrian will work across all three practices in Thame, Abingdon and Witney, so all customers can benefit from his skills and qualifications in both laser light technologies and injectable treatments. As Nurse Aesthetician Adrian specialises in the Light, Heat and Energy Therapies (Laser Hair Removal, Radio Frequency Skin Tightening and eMatrix, IPL Advanced Skin Rejuvenation & Cosmetic Teeth Whitening) as will as dermal fillers for restoring volume to the face and toxin injection to smooth the face and forehead, relax wrinkles and as a treatment to reduce excess underarm sweating.

Dermal Filler Treatment

Adrian’s aesthetic treatments in his own words…

“After losing a significant amount weight, I also noticed some loss in volume to my cheeks.  Although I looked and felt far better as a result of the weight loss, I felt concerned that it had left my face looking a little flat and sunken. Marea very kindly consulted with me on this and I received Restylane® Sub-Q dermal filler to my cheek and mid face. I am delighted with the results. Better still, the treatment was carried out using a blunt cannula, this was not as sore as a normal injection and I had hardly any bruising. I have also had botulinum toxin treatment for excessive sweating in my arm pits, which quite literally changed my life. I can now wear whatever clothes I like and don’t have to worry about great big wet patches appearing under my arms! Quite recently I finished a course of the new eMatrix treatment for plumping the skin and resurfacing for acne scarring.  The results are gradual and I am continuing to notice a new elasticity and smoother skin. People keep telling me how great my skin looks and that gives me the real feel good factor!

Having experienced a variety of treatments, I feel qualified to empathise with my patients, understand their concerns and so can support, counsel and treat them accordingly. By offering a personal, tailored approach I can address each customers own specific skin health needs.”
