What is Radiesse or Sculptra®
Sculptra® is a long-lasting, clinically-proven treatment that can smooth deep lines and wrinkles and restore facial volume lost in the body’s natural ageing process. The improvement is gradual, long-lasting and gives you an entirely natural-looking fuller face.
Radiesse and Sculptra are injectable volumising treatments that stimulates the build up of the body’s own collagen to smooth out lines and wrinkles and restore lost facial volume to give you a fuller, younger-looking face. It is a newer addition to the dermal filler product range now available for the skilled Aesthetic Practitioner
How Radiesse and Sculptra works
Radiesse and Sculptra® works differently from traditional fillers. It’s a unique collagen replenishing treatment that helps to gradually and subtly reduce lines, wrinkles and folds. By helping to replenish your own facial collagen and restore lost volume, it can give you a fuller, more natural look that can last for up to 25 months.
Suitable Treatment Areas for Radiesse and Sculptra
Radiesse and Sculptra® treats most areas of your face that may be concerning you, particularly deeper lines, wrinkles and folds. On average 3 treatments are required and results should be noticeable after approximately 6 weeks (however, in some patients this may take longer or require more treatments).
Do treatments hurt?
As with all injections you will probably feel some discomfort. You may even notice a brief burning sensation at the injection site. Applying an ice pack after treatment will help calm your skin. If necessary your nurse practitioner will also give you a local anaesthetic.
What about afterwards?
Your nurse practitioner will give you special aftercare instructions. Inform your nurse practitioner if any side effects occur, for example inflammation or small bumps in the treated area.
What about side effects?
The most common side effects with the use of Radiesse and Sculptra dermal fillers include bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising or swelling at the site of the injection. These side effects generally resolve in 2-6 days. One possible delayed side effect can be small bumps under the skin in the treated area. These small bumps may not be visible, and you may notice them only when you press on the treated skin. As with all procedures that involve an injection through the skin, there is a risk of infection. Any side effects should be reported to your nurse practitioner.
Side effects can be avoided or reduced if you ensure you have treatment by someone who has completed the Radiesse or Sculptra dermal filler training programme and you follow your proper aftercare tips. Results withRadiesse and Sculptra vary between individuals, depending upon a number of factors and, similar to other medical treatments, results cannot be guaranteed. Any advice required, before or after treatment, should be requested from your nurse practitioner.
