Collagen PIN

Benefits

QUICKER HEALING

Collagen PIN treatments can have shorter recovery times than more invasive treatments.

NATURAL

Collagen PIN treatment stimulates the lower layers of the skin, this then triggers your body's own healing process, which leads to the production of new collagen.

VERSATILE

Collagen PIN is used to treat a wide range of skin problems such as; acne scars, fine lines, photo-aging, dull skin, poor texture, stretch marks and body scars.

How Does It Work

Collagen P.I.N. is a method of introducing a controlled wound into the skin triggering a release of growth factors, new collagen & elastin. This process causes much less damage to the epidermis than dermal rolling or lasers and other ablative treatments, which helps to protect the new skin cell growth providing for quicker healing and a much higher success rate for results.

Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy or PCIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s appearance.

During your procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels, which allow topical serums and creams to be absorbed more effectively into the skin.

FAQ's

How is Collagen Pin different from Microneedling?

Micro-needling rollers were the previous generation of needling devices. One of the many drawbacks of dermal rollers is they have a fixed needle or penetration depth, typically 0.5mm, which is not very ideal when treating the face. The face requires different depths due to the varying thickness of skin tissue. Collagen P.I.N. has an adjustable needle depth that allows your nurse practitioner to adjust penetration depth throughout the entire treatment and address the specific needs of thinner skin on your lower eyelids, crow’s feet, and forehead. Where the tissue is thicker in other areas, like the upper lip, cheeks (due to fat pads), neck and décolletage, the Collagen PIN can be easily adjusted. The intensity of the Collagen PIN used in our nurse-led clinics will penetrate to a greater depth in the dermis than non medical micro-needling used in beauty salons.

What happens during treatment?

Prior to your treatment with the Collagen P.I.N., your practitioner will apply a topical numbing agent. The treatment is carried out in around 30 minutes. 32 micro needles are glided across the skin with the Collagen P.I.N. device that mechanically induces a micro-injury to the desired depth chosen for your skin by your practitioner. Patients experience only very mild discomfort. Post treatment, potent serums are massaged into the skin and penetrate down into the dermis where they brighten and feed the skin.

How many treatments will I need?

We advise typically 3 – 6 treatments 4 weeks apart to achieve optimal results, although results can be seen after the first treatment. Treatments are usually spaced in 4-week intervals. If you have deep wrinkles, advanced sun damage, stretch marks, or any type of scars, you may require 6 or more treatments to achieve the desired results. Your nurse will discuss this in your one to one consultation.

How is Collagen Pin different from Laser/

When used correctly resurfacing lasers are a great tool for treating aging skin. Lasers use focused light to produce heat to destroy certain colors of pigmentation. This is great for targeting dark well-defined spots. Collagen P.I.N. works differently and breaks up pigment mechanically and remodels the collagen without heat or light. PIN treatment can be more comfortable as no heat is generated. Most patients have a healthy pink glow immediately after the procedure, which lessens dramatically within 24 hours or less. Many are back to work the same day and out to dinner the same evening and experience little to no downtime.

How will I look and feel after the treatment?

Collagen P.I.N. is considered a no-downtime treatment. Immediately after your treatment, your skin will look slightly pink to moderately red. Depending on your skin’s sensitivity your redness can last for another 24 hours. Your practitioner will recommend skincare products for your post-care based on your individual skin, which will greatly minimize these symptoms and enhance your overall results.

Can I use makeup after Collagen P.I.N.Treatment?

Directly after your treatment, we recommend using only a mineral-based foundation, as it cannot build bacteria. You may go back to your regular foundation four days after your treatment.
